A
New Birth of Freedom: Running On Empty Productions
Running On Empty
Productions, LLC was originally Real 2 Reel Entertainment started by
MauryO Osbourne in 2001 as a result of Nitara Osbourne writing and
directing the stage play Christmas After 9/11. MauryO and
Nitara went on to produce two more stage plays, Unsaving Mothers
and Enduring 'Til the End under Real 2 Reel Entertainment.
Nitara had been writing screenplays long before she started writing
stage plays and continued to do so through the years following the
running of the three stage plays.
|
After years of pushing
the feature film script Running On Empty, Nitara decided that she
was tired of waiting on Hollywood to say that she was “good enough” or
that the script had any validity, so she made a decision in January 2006
to produce the feature-length screenplay herself. All she could
think about for so long was getting the Running On Empty project
produced, that the last thing on her mind was setting up an official
film production company. Nitara just wanted to make her movie.
After MauryO and Nitara consulted with their entertainment attorney,
they decided to make the slow transition from Real 2 Reel Entertainment
to Running On Empty Productions, LLC. And how fitting of a name –
not only for their first produced feature, but as a production company
name that describes the years of hard work and dedication. |

The
Heartbeat of a Company
|
Running On Empty is
seeing a promise through when it looks dark and grim. It is
fighting when you’re too tired to throw a punch. Running On Empty
is looking opposition in the face through teary eyes and saying, “I’m
going to make it somehow. Just you watch me.”
It is
believing in what you can’t see. It says "I can" when your body
and everyone around you is mocking you and chanting the reverberating
dream-stealing words “you can’t… you can’t.” Running On Empty is
standing up for the 410th time after being knocked down 409 times, and
moving forward again... and again… and again.
Running On Empty
makes champions out of the underdog who fights for their dream.
This is the heartbeat of Running On Empty Productions, LLC. |

Mission
Statement
To produce independent,
high quality, profitable, successful, award winning films, and to
inspire and help elevate those who have displayed talent within the
entertainment industry to realize their full potential by giving them
well-earned opportunities.
|
Our films must be done
independently so that writers and directors who utilize our
production company can be given an opportunity to see their visions
materialize within the realistic framework of an independent film.
Our films must be of
and/or contain the highest quality a completed film product could
possibly achieve within the realistic framework of each film project.
This includes, but is not limited to, a solid, well-revised
screenplay/script, lighting, sound, cinematography, and access to a full
post-production house for clean picture and sound editing. In
other words, we will gather and/or use our own resources for
pre-production, production, and post-production work to ensure ultimate
quality. |
|
 |
Our films need to be
profitable for the production company to continue to exist, but as well
should be profitable to those involved
in working on each film project. This means that films that we invest time
and energy in funding, we will invest an equal amount of time and
energy, if not more, in strategically marketing, or hiring the
appropriate personnel to market each film project with the expectation
that everyone who is independently contracted on a particular project
will be fairly, financially compensated.
Our films will be
successful in their own right. This includes, but is not
limited to, having cast, crew, writers,
directors, as well as the producing staff move forward and upward within
their careers, and finally… being recognized and acknowledged within the
film industry through being nominated and/or winning awards.

MAURYO
OSBOURNE executive producer, producer
SGT Maury Osbourne
served in the United States Marine Corps directly out of high school.
His friends call him “Mario” so he decided to take his first name and
the first letter of his last name to be original and spell it “MauryO,”
which is where the unique spelling comes from.
|
In his tour of duty he
had the opportunity to travel to Japan, Thailand, Syria, Pakistan,
Egypt, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and both the eastern and western parts of the
United States. He was raised in a military background, as his
father served in the United States Air Force, which allowed MauryO to
travel around the world as a little boy as well.
As a United States
Marine, MauryO mastered the arts of leadership, organization,
accountability, and the all important tasks of being a team player and a
key component on a winning team. He was honorably discharged in
1996 and went on to pursue higher education at the University Of New
Orleans.
An entrepreneurial fire
has always burned inside of him and the desire to create avenues to help
other people as well. He has started five companies - Osbourne Administrative
Services, Textbook Dimensions, Osbourne Enterprises Online Shopping,
Running On Empty Productions, LLC (formerly known as Real 2 Reel
Entertainment), and Osbourne Gifting Services. All of these
companies fall under the umbrella known as Osbourne Enterprises.
MauryO has also served on the board of directors for the
Southwest Prostate Cancer Foundation, a Phoenix based Prostate
Cancer Prevention and Awareness non-profit organization. |
|
 |
MauryO has produced
three stage plays; Christmas After 9/11, Unsaving Mothers,
Enduring 'Til the End, and he both produced and executive

producer, and production manager on the full feature production of

NITARA
OSBOURNE executive producer, producer
Nitara graduated high
school from Cairo American College at the historical Giza Pyramids in
Egypt. She attended the school between 8th - 12th grade and lived
in Egypt because her parents were American diplomats working at the
American Embassy.
Although she grew up in an upper middle class home, and many would say
she had it easy, what would strengthen Nitara for becoming a filmmaker
in the future were the dues that she had to pay as an athlete on the
basketball court and on the track back in high school. Little did
she know that failing and overcoming over and over again as an athlete
are the exact same steps that writers and filmmakers must work through
in the film industry.
|
She got married, had a
son, and attended college full time while taking care of her newborn son
and adjusting to married life. For the first time since her
commitment to basketball and track and field, Nitara understood what it
truly meant to sacrifice and work hard in the pursuit of a dream.
She started writing in 1993-94 for her high school newspaper
and began writing screenplays in 1997.
Having to trade their
newborn son back and forth between their daily schedules, MauryO and Nitara
were always fighting time. They were in college simultaneously, and MauryO was working a full time job.
Life became overwhelming
for Nitara because it took work and effort to be a good wife, maintain a 3.0 GPA as a
full time student, and write scripts at the only available times while
tending to her newborn (usually between 1-4AM). The daily financial struggle that weighed
on her and her husband’s minds also became overwhelming. |
|
 |
Nitara received her
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Sociology from
Loyola University in 1999. She has written 8 feature-length
screenplays over the past 10 years; Butterfly in the Storm,
Power Over the Mind, Within The Expected, Thirsty
Reflection, Running On Empty, Washed In His Blood,
Birthing Forth the Unexpected, and Christian Porn. All
are original screenplays, with the exception of Thirsty Reflection,
which she was asked to write the script for based on the autobiography
of Pastor Shawn Mosley. She has written countless TV episodes,
short films, and stage plays. Nitara has sold three TV episodes to
the executive producer of a TV series that is due to air in the next 2
years. She has written, directed, and produced the three stage
plays Christmas After 9/11, Unsaving Mothers, and
Enduring 'Til the End.
Nitara has served as script supervisor, associate producer, and
co-teleplay writer for the New Phoenix Filmworks’ production DVD
episode, Black Talon: Broken Mirror. She also served
as script supervisor for a Music video and for the short film Romey
and Jules. She was also the writer, the director, the
executive producer, and the producer for the Running On Empty
Theatrical Trailer and Teaser that won two 2007 Telly® Awards, and she
served as the writer, director, executive producer, and producer for the
full feature of Running On Empty that is currently in
post-production. Nitara has been invited to serve on the board of
the Arizona Film and Television Festival, has recently just completed
co-writing the action-adventure feature-length screenplay The Chosen
Ones in 2008, and is currently in development on a new episodic
series.
